Pillar Three
Love
Love, family & friends, socializing all fit under this pillar. Keeping a good relation with someone is crucial to keeping your life together. Having friends to trust and go on adventures with is all you need to keep this pillar high. Having friends, you trust is already magnificent and should continue with. Just having to trust and to talk to can already help reduce stress and having someone to talk to.
It's also important to keep a good relation with your family since in most cases they take care and shelter you. Or vice-versa depending where you are in life. After all, they are the reason why you're here. Without them, let's face it you wouldn't be reading this book. Even if your parents are divorced, they still took care of you when you were little and gave you a place to stay.
You never know when you will need a favor from someone. Also, you might just be lonely or depressed, and you'll have someone to talk to. Being friends with the opposite personality can help conversations and allow you to keep a more stable relationship.
However, switching to a more business-like reason to have friends is to have them help you. For example, say you want to write a book, if you have a friend that is a publisher, they can help you. Instead of paying a fortune for another publisher, it can be a group effort. After, you can exchange a payment that could be less or just split the profit.
Business partners are always a good option since you don't have to go through everything alone and don't have to carry a huge load. Even better, you will finish things quicker and accomplish more. Even if you have 3 friends working slowly for one day, it replaces you doing double the work for one day.
Think of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak; they were partners when Apple starter and both were intrigued by computers that they made their own company. Although Jobs may be gone, he still created a legacy. They were both good friends and great business partners. They talk to each other about their ideas and help each other solve their problems. Without each other, they wouldn't have created the powerful company, Apple.
With Jobs and Wozniak, they maintained a good relationship through the making of Apple, although, friends and business should be kept separate. This is because if something does happen, you don't want your friendships destroyed because of a flaw in the firm. Friendships can be made or destroyed through business and things you would never expect. Going back to how this is important to the pillars, it is important to keep a healthy social life with friends and family because you never know when the time will be and you will need them the most. This pillar should not be avoided and to be accounted for when making a life choice.
